The Trincomalee coastline is genuinely striking when you see it from the water. Sandy beaches backed by palms, old fort ruins in the distance, the headland where Koneswaram temple stands above the cliffs. On the water you get a perspective the road doesn't give you.
We head out from Sandy Cove along the coast, passing Pigeon Island, the old lighthouse, and a couple of secluded beach spots. The crew knows the bay well — they'll stop if dolphins show up, which happens more often than not. Not a race, not a packed tour. Just a couple of hours on the water.
